DVD FIEND: RED

I finally had the chance to sit down and watch "Red" a few days ago. Damn, did I love it! Coming from a Ketchum novel I have yet to read I was expecting something a bit more violent and dreadful, and though there were plenty of moments of both I walked away feeling very satisfied with the movie from start to finish. The film is solely carried on the shoulders of Brian Cox but has a solid cast throughout, including Robert Englund in a small yet succinct role, and Jack Ketchum himself even made a brief cameo as the man behind the bar. If I could sum up this movie in one-word I would call it "steady." The characters we come to meet do not grow or change really, they are who they are and pretty much stay that way till the films conclusion. Red, to me, is the Unforgiven for dog lovers.

Rent or Watch Red at Netflix now.
