THIS WEEK'S NETFLIX RELEASES

Every Sunday, Netflix puts out a list of that week's movie releases. To help you with your movie queuing Flix Fiend will add some commentary to that list...

There's some interesting flicks coming this week. Number one on that list has to be Star Trek. This re-invigoration, by J.J. Abrams, of the franchise starts the clock over again with the original crew's origin. Abrams put together an incredible movie, one of the year's best actually. It had everything you come to expect from Star Trek, while adding Abrams' signature action and great comedic cues. The cast is absolutely perfect, too. I highly recommend putting this one in your queue!

Trek is the only one of this week's that I've seen, but there are a few others that I've been looking forward to. One of these is Bruno, which I cannot wait to see. I loved Borat, and this movie looks just as ridiculous, although I'll be curious to see how many folks "get" the joke.

Another is The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard with Jeremy Piven. It looks silly, but I'm into silly, and Jeremy Piven leading a team of whacked out car salesmen sounds like gold to me. The trailer had me in stitches, hopefully the movie does the same.

Others on my queue: The Open Road, Thirst, Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone, Skills Like This, Franklyn, and a French flick called Vampire Party. This last one's description starts like this: Equal parts Airplane! and Shaun of the Dead. Err, say no more!
