THIS WEEK'S NETFLIX RELEASES

If it's Sunday, it must be Netflix time, and so it is. This week sees a bunch of interesting flicks coming out, so lets get to it. The biggest releases of the week are the Michael Mann's Public Enemies and the Julia Child movie, Julie and Julia.

Public Enemies has a lot going for it, and I'm really looking forward to checking it out. Mann rarely disappoints, and this movie boasts a cast that includes Johnny Depp and Christian Bale, so right there you have a recipe for quality. Add to that the Depression Era setting, and a FBI vs. Mobster plot, and you have a movie that's moving straight up the queue. The Julie and Julia movie is one that won't be moving up, but it'll get a click from me and an eventual viewing. Being a Foodie myself, this movie does interest me, so you never know when the urge to watch it will come. A Watch Now option on this would be keen.

One movie that looks fantastic is a German flick called The Baader Meinhof Complex, which is about the rise of the left-wing terrorist group The Red Army Faction. Judging from the previews, it has a keen cinematic style that makes me swoon. The trailer on Netflix is great, make sure to give it a watch.

A couple of other decent looking movies include an indie black comedy with Robin Williams called World's Greatest Dad, and a horror movie with Star Trek's Chris Pine called Carriers. The former is about a teacher and dad whose attempts at a writing career isn't working out well, but tragedy may change all that. The latter was only given an extremely limited release after mostly being shelved, but looks quite scary, maybe because the pandemic disease plot seems to be done rather well.
