No real major drop and everything and watch movies this week, but there are some I'm interested in. Two in particular, and a few other of some interest.
First, Drew Barrymore's comedy Whip It starring Ellen Page and a solid supporting cast including Barrymore, Jimmy Fallon, Kristen Wiig, Juliette Lewis, Daniel Stern, and more. I've always been a fan of Barrymore as an actress, so I'm really looking forward to her directorial debut, a coming of age tale about a girl who joins a roller derby team. It seems like the type of quirky comedies that brought Page to the dance with Juno. I'm on board for this one, so should you.
The other movie I'm looking forward to is Surrogates with good ol' Bruce Willis. I've read a bit of the graphic novel, and I liked what I read. It has a good Philip K. Dick type of vibe, and while the movie is a little more polished than that, it looks like a good science fiction flick. And hey, Willis is usually decent in these.
Another movie I'll be interested in is an independent flick called Give 'Em Hell Malone. This a Noir movie mixed with modern technologies with Thomas Jane and Ving Rhames. In a lot of ways the style reminds me of Jane's the Mutant Chronicles. It has a sort of enhanced environment backdrop, and while the dialogue sounds stiff, it seems appropriate.
Other movies coming out include the Michael Jackson documentary This Is It, British flick St. Trinians, the latest in the horror franchise: Saw VI, a movie based on the book I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell (which has been in my book pile for a couple of years), and a cool little Korean flick called Daytime Drinking.
For those and a lot more check the full list here. Happy renting!
