Shutter Island is one of the best psychological thrillers I've seen in years. From the opening scenes the film keeps you guessing as to what's actually going on on the island home for the criminally insane. I won't describe the plot, as I don't want to reveal any of the twists, but this was a film that I think Alfred Hitchcock would have made were he alive today.
The acting is top-notch with Leonardo DiCaprio and Ben Kingsley giving their usual stellar performances. Martin Scorsese shoots the film in a style reminiscent of the aforementioned Hitchcock. If you like dark explorations of the mind, or are looking for an intense movie-going experience, this is definitely the film for you!
