THIS WEEK'S NETFLIX RELEASES

Ah, the smell of new DVDs is in the air, and we're back to highlight this Tuesday's releases. No huge movies this week, but there should be a few worth watching. Let's take a looksee.

First off, the one I really want to see is Dead Snow. This is a Norweigian horror movie about a group of friends on a snowy weekend getaway who unleash, wait for it...Nazi zombies! Woohoo! That's an awesome plot, and what's better is that it actually looks like a fun ride! From the trailers there seems to be a comedy-horror vibe to it akin to Shaun of Dead, whereas they treat the horror as equal as the comedy. Give me even a fraction of that and I'll be satisfied!

OK, next we go more mainstream with Everybody's Fine. This is the Robert DeNiro flick about a recently widowed father traveling to see all of his grown kids for the holidays when they decide not to come to him. Looks like a possible tearjerker with a couple of laughs thrown in. Something about the trailers made me want to see it. Maybe it was DeNiro's earnestness?

Next we have a move I really didn't get from the trailers. It's Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant. What is this movie trying to be? I know it's based a on a series of books, but it just seemed directionless in the trailers. I have some curiosity about it, but it'll be awhile before I get to this one, I'm talking years most likely!

There's also a very cool looking stop-motion animated British import, an Uma Thurman comedy, a movie about the soccer team Leeds United, and a Takashi Miike adaptation of a PS2 Yakusa game. All sound interesting.
