THIS WEEK'S NETFLIX RELEASES

I believe I missed the release of Precious last week on DVD, my apologies to the creators of the Oscar nominated flick. Rent it here.

Onto to this week now. Let's start with a smash hit series' latest release, Twilight: New Moon. The teenage girls love it, my sisters love it, my girlfriend liked it. I'm not watching it. It is everything I hate about the vampire/werewolf genre. You can go ahead and watch, I won't judge...

Another horror flick, wait was that last one considered that? Anyway, The Fourth Kind came out on the heels of Paranormal Activity, and they sort of felt similar, but this one was a more polished Hollywood flick starring Milla Jovovich. This one is about alien abductions, and, to me, actually looked creepier. I'll eventually give them both a watch.

The great Spanish director Pedro Almodvar's latest, Broken Embraces, is next on the list. Once again employing Penelope Cruz, I expect another entertaining thought-provoker. This one sounds more steamy than his last flick, Volver.

In my last article about the new Predators movie I mentioned its director, Nimrod Antal. Well his previous flick, Armored, is coming out this week, and now my curiosity about him is thoroughly piqued. I will definitely check this one out. Armored is about a armored car heist gone wrong. Previously he's directed Vacancy and the foreign thriller, Kontroll. The latter is on my queue, but I'll put them all on to prep for Predators.

The last movie I'll talk about is the animated Astro Boy based on the 60's Japanese cartoon. It looks OK at best, but I'll give it a watch based on its source material at some point. There's also Disney's Princess and the Frog for the 2D animation set.

Other flicks coming out include the hideous looking Hugh Grant/Sarah Jessica Parker flick Did You Hear About the Morgans?, actor (and possible Captain America?!) John Krasinki's directorial debut, the teeny-bopper Bandslam, and a new movie with Matthew Broderick (man, I wish Mr. Hughes would've given us another Ferris Bueller!).
