FIENDISH RELEASES! (formerly "This Week's Netflix Releases")

Well, I said there was a change coming to the Netflix release section, and I can now present you a revamped Release section that combines both weekly Theatrical and DVD release highlights! Fiendish Releases will appear on either Sunday or Monday depending on scheduling as movies are traditionally released on DVDs on Tuesdays and into theaters Fridays (and sometimes Wednesdays).

I've wanted to add a Theatrical release section for awhile, and also move away from solely focusing on Netflix. The latter because I felt like I was alienating other services who have different release schedules as well as films that solely come out for purchase first. Combining them under one banner seemed like the best move going forward. I hope you enjoy this expanded section. Let's get to it!

IN THEATERS THIS WEEK...

JACKASS 3D: I've never been a fan of this series, but I'm sure it'll attract folks in droves. I guess seeing these guys maim themselves in 3D could be a hoot.

RED: This is one that I'd like to see. Based on the fantastically fun Wildstorm Comics series by Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner. The cast including Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, and John Malkovich looked like they had a blast on this one.

HEREAFTER (limited): Clint Eastwood's supernatural tale starring Matt Damon releases in NY and LA this week with a wider releases slated for next week. I'm interested to see what these guys can do in this genre.

THE TWO ESCOBARS (limited): A film about the Colombian National soccer team and the murder that shocked the world after the 1994 World Cup.

ON DVD THIS WEEK...

JONAH HEX: I wasn't a big fan of this one, but it may be more digestible on DVD.

LOST BOYS: THE THIRST: The Frog brothers are back again for another DVD sequel. I guess Corey Feldman needs to do something.

HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON: I kind of thought this animated flick looked like a fun romp. I'll be curious to check this one out.

ARN: THE KNIGHT TEMPLAR: A Swedish film about a Swedish Knight Templar during the Crusades. Sounds epic.

That's it for this week. Happy viewing!
