THIS WEEK'S NETFLIX'S RELEASES (ZOMBIELAND EDITION!)

Forget every other movie because Zombieland comes out this week! And since the movie came out before the Fiend existed as a blog, this edition of Netflix Releases will serve as a mini review.

If you haven't seen it, you're most likely insane, and possibly a zombie yourself. This was one of the best movies I saw in a theater in 2009. It's the most perfect mash of the horror and comedy genres since Shaun of the Dead. Zombieland is a ridiculously fun and well-made movie, and you should rent and move it to the top of your queue right now!

The story revolves around a college student roaming the U.S. after a zombie apocalypse, and the 3 folks he meets along the way that become his surrogate family. The cast is fantastic with Jesse Eisenberg as the aforementioned student and Woody Harrelson as his "partner", a zombie-killing cowboy, and Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin as their female counterparts. The action is great, the comedy is spot-on, and the big surprise is very cool! Also, the movie follows a set of rules that Eisenberg has created to survive and they flash across the screen whenever they are performed, it's a very fun and unique aspect. Oh, and this may have the greatest opening sequence ever!

OK, let's list some other flicks coming out:
Universal Soldier: Regeneration: Van Damme and Lundgren are back! Can you gimme a hell yeah?! No, really. Please?
Amelia: Can this movie look more annoying? This one screams stay away to me. To each their own, though.
New York, I Love You: The anthology sequel to Paris, Je T'aime, which I really dug.
Beer Wars: Cool looking dock about the business of beer.

There's a few others like a Paul Giamatti flick and an Ong Bak sequel. For the full list, click here, and rent Zombieland!
