This week sees the release of a movie we liked here at the Fiend, and that's Sherlock Holmes. Check out Lou's review here, and mine here. This a hell of a fun movie directed by Guy Ritchie and starring the always awesome Robert Downey Jr., as well as Jude Law. I can't wait to see this one again!
Next is a movie that looks rather interesting, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus directed by the always interesting Terry Gilliam. With the tragic passing of its star, Heath Ledger, the movie was reworked so that multiple actors would fill his character's role in different settings. Being that this was a fantastical film, the concept fit. I'll be curious to see how it all came together, as Gilliam's movies are usually a trip anyway.
We also have the sequel to the French action flick District 13, District 13: Ultimatum. I really dug the first film, loved the crazy hyper-action, and this one continues the story of the Parkour martial artists and their exploits through the futuristic Paris slums.
Other movies releasing this week include a direct-to-DVD sequel to The Descent, a Liam Neeson flick, and a Georgia O'Keefe biopic. For all of these and more, click here. Happy renting!
